Lorna Evolves

I don't know but I think I may be licking the vanity thing.  By "licking" I mean beating.

Last week we brought our winter clothes up from the locker room, and started making decisions about what to keep and what to send to Sally Ann from our summer stuff.  I soon had the summer clothes dealt with and was delighted to see that after I'd unpacked the winter clothes and culled the too-small stuff, I actually had room left in the cupboard and in the drawers.  This has never happened to me before.

Usually, at changeover time, I have to make culling decisions after I've made decisions based on size and preference.  Our small place has an equally small cupboard space and I have to admit that I've often hung two or three sweaters on the same hanger so that other things don't spontaneously jump out of the cupboard when I open the door.

In the same vein, I decided to move my cosmetics from under the counter in the bathroom to the top of the counter, hoping that exposure would make me more frugal.  I can't really say that it's happening yet, but I do feel kind of foolish when I see that I have 12 lipsticks, one pair of lips; 4 mascaras and only one set of eyes.  And as my daughters can testify, that is a radically reduced collection.

Now that I'm safely and securely in cronedom, I can't imagine why it matters that I not look like I did all my shopping in the 1990s but it does.   However, I think I'm getting it slightly under control and by the time I hit 80, I may have conquered it entirely.

Then I'll be the pale, lashless sweetie in the corner in a bathrobe.  But I'll have more money for books and chocolate.
