PINKY AND THE BRAIN (REDUX)

A while ago I blogged about my joy at setting myself up in my bedroom with a desk and bench that Dave and I had chosen off the internet.  I was so happy with that situation, and still love the desk and chair, but being set up in my bedroom, while Dave is out in the living area of our condo, turned out not to be ideal.

Because we've both been so busy lately, and most of the business happens on our computers, we haven't been seeing each other as much as we're accustomed to.  It's not that we have to live in each other's pockets, it's just that when we don't, we (read "I") have to feel secure in our relationship.

A couple of times I've wandered out of the bedroom into a totally dark house where Dave is sitting in front of his computer with a desk light concentrated on his work place, seemingly scorching up the internet and pleased with himself.  I on the other hand, have felt that while I seem to need to see him from time to time, he can just motor on by himself.  Well of course he can, and I'm glad of that.

It's one of the things that we count on in our marriage.  We like to be together and it works for us to be apart.  Only, apparently, not enough for me.

So, we've moved my desk into the living space, near what used to be my "office", but not so close to the running water.  I'm liking it, but I wonder how long it will take for Dave to get used to the sound of my bracelets clanking on the keyboard as I type?  Actually, that sound of the bracelets is part of my dastardly plan to have the universe totally under my control.  I just have to figure out how to turn that lovely ringing noise into an MP3 that plays subtly in the background while you're reading my post.

And look into my eyes....look into my eyes....hear the music of my bangles:

  1. So glad you resolved your problem, I think I would feel much the same as you if my husband were still alive. I never did like being in a different room than he was. Hope you are well Lorna....big hugs

  2. We "work" in separate rooms, often two stories apart these days, but manage to visit from time to time. It's nice to be able to keep in touch.
